Your privacy
No accounts, no ads, and no cookies of our own. Here is everything the site knows about you.
- Visitor counts. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, so we can see how many people use the site and which pages they read. It doesn't use cookies or store anything in your browser, and Cloudflare says it doesn't fingerprint visitors by IP address, browser or anything else. What it records is the page you visited, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, your country and how fast the page loaded. That doesn't tell us who you are. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal, you aren't counted at all.
- What stays in your browser. Your choices on the site, such as short or full answers, how an issue page is laid out, your My picks stars and which issues you have already seen, are saved in your own browser so the site remembers them next time. Your impact calculator answers are saved only if you tick "Remember my answers on this device". None of this is ever sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
- The suggestion box. We keep only what you type into the form. It doesn't ask for your name, and asks for an email address only from someone responding for a party, so we can check they are from that party. Your IP address is used for a minute to stop one sender flooding the box, and is never stored. The check that you're not a bot is run by Cloudflare Turnstile, which Cloudflare says uses only the data needed for that check.
- Hosting and protection. Cloudflare serves the site and blocks attacks on it, so it handles every request, as any web host does; its privacy policy covers that. We don't keep logs of who visits. If Cloudflare's protection ever needs to check that your browser isn't a bot, it may set a short-lived cookie to remember that you passed. That cookie is only for security.
